In a tragic escalation of violence, a mass shooting on Saturday night, September 21, 2024, turned Birmingham’s lively Five Points South district into a scene of chaos and grief.
What began as an ordinary weekend evening in one of the city’s most popular nightlife areas quickly descended into horror, leaving four people dead and 18 others wounded.
The violence, which took place just after 11 p.m. near the Hush hookah lounge, was described by authorities as a targeted “hit” aimed at one of the victims.
Witnesses reported the terrifying moment when multiple shooters emerged from a vehicle and opened fire on a crowded sidewalk.
Hundreds of shots were fired, and many innocent bystanders were caught in the crossfire, transforming the vibrant entertainment hub into a scene of devastation. The authorities believe the shooters used machine gun conversion devices, which enabled semi-automatic firearms to fire at an accelerated rate, causing even more carnage
The grim toll included two men and a woman, who were found dead at the scene, while a fourth victim died at a hospital.
